of cinematic innovation. Each week new films will be shown from
emerging and established independent filmmakers. Interviews and
overviews will be part of the show which will include
mini-documentaries about this week's filmmakers, their past

This is an untold story, a wellspring of inspiration for the next

Francis Coppola said, "The next Speilberg is probably a 12
year old girl living in Kansas." (or Seattle)
With the bulk of today's television shows reflecting formulaic
standards, THE AMERICAN AVANT GARDE challenges that premise and
focuses on creativity. Every show will be new, and every show will
be different. In addition, THE AMERICAN AVANT GARDE will stream live
on the internet and link viewers to web sites that further explore
the stories featured on the program. The program is truly
interactive and will allow viewers an opportunity to offer feedback
and ideas to THE AMERICAN AVANT GARDE's production team.
American avant garde filmmakers, mostly creators of short cinema,
have consistently led the way into what we accept as the newest
forms of advertising and achievement in major motion picture making.
Without the work of avant garde filmmakers, much that is admired in
cinema today would not exist.
